Municipality Finance (MuniFin) was recognised among the leaders in green finance by Climate Bonds Initiative.
Municipality Finance (MuniFin) issued its first benchmark bond for the year 2017 on January 6. The timing of the one billion euro benchmark took advantage of a strong market backdrop of the week and was well oversubscribed.
The London Stock Exchange celebrated Finnish environmental investments in its market opening ceremony on Tuesday. The municipality sector plays a key role in the fight against climate change: its investments are often large-scale and have a wide social impact. Finland's first ever green bond, issued by MuniFin at the end of September, adds to environmentally friendly investment, since green lending is less expensive for customers than other types of lending.
MuniFin has on 30 August, 2016 mandated Bank of America Merrill Lync, Credit Agricole, HSBC and SEB to organise its inaugural Green bond issue.
On 2 June 2016, the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) updated its list of issuers included in the public sector purchase programme (PSPP) in the euro area. MuniFin is one of the Finnish issuers included in the updated list.
MuniFin has won the award for the Most Impressive SSA Borrower in MTNs at the annual GlobalCapital Bond Awards. Market participants determine the GlobalCapital MTN award winners through a vote. GlobalCapital is a leading news and data service for the international capital markets. The award was revealed at a gala dinner at London’s Guildhall on May 25th.
Starting from 2016, MuniFin offers green financing – loans and leasing – for its customers' environmentally friendly projects. Green financing is funded by Green Bonds.
